About Domain Names

During the first sixty days of your site’s existence, we use our credentials for acquiring and setting up your site. On the 61st day and there after, following domain name acquisition and site setup, you may request the domain name to be transferred to your own registrar, if you have one. It is common and acceptable practice for every registrar, to not allow a domain name to be transferred to another registrar during the first sixty days following the acquisition of a new domain name.

Please note that during the initial 60 day period of acquiring your new domain name, we are shown as the site owner and site technical contact. Complete control of the information for setting up and maintaining the site is needed to provide you with a hands-off solution to acquire the domain name and setup the site for you. Technically though, you are the owner of the domain name and are completely responsible for that name, the moment the name is acquired for you, since SLZ and Associates just  provides a service to help you get things done.

Any questions by third parties, concerning a domain name or the associated hosting account will be initially reviewed and handled through the technical and administrative contact information (names, E-mails and phone numbers) used during the initial sixty day period to acquire the new domain name. Any requests or questions that must be answered by you, the true domain name owner, within the first sixty days of owning your new domain name or the associated hosting account will be referred to you as necessary, during the initial sixty day period.

When your new domain name is acquired, if you can and do provide correct information for domain name ownership and technical or administrative contact information, then we will attempt to use that information, when the domain name is initially acquired for you. During the initial 60 period of acquiring a new domain name for you, if you do not or cannot provide accurate information yet, we will change the domain name records to the most correct information, as it is obtained from you.

Why the detail about domain name ownership and the contact information surrounding the process of setting up a domain and a hosting account?

Buying and owning domain names is a separate process handled through domain name registrars and requires specific pieces of information, to be done correctly.

Buying web space for hosting is a separate process and has nothing to do with buying and owning domain names and requires specific pieces of information, to be done correctly

SLZ and Associates provides web space hosting accounts for new domain names as well as existing domain names.

SLZ and Associates provides services to acquire new domain names for you through our registrar, if you do not have a registrar account for your domain names, yet.

SLZ and Associates does not use automated systems which allow you, the customer, to acquire your own domain names or buy a hosting account. Both of the separate processes, domain name acquisition and setting up the hosting account are manual tasks performed by a real person for you, as a service.

In most cases, by doing things manually for you, there is definitely much less chance of any error occurring during the process, since the initial tasks are performed by an experienced administrative person for you.

Possibly most important to you, is the fact that you can pick up the phone or send an e-mail to order a domain name and hosting account through SLZ and Associates services, without doing much else, except paying for it, before it is done.

By initially doing things this way, very little information is needed from and zero knowledge is needed by most people to acquire a domain name and get a hosting account through SLZ and Associates service.

In addition, SLZ and Associates does not force you to use any specific domain name registrar when acquiring your first domain name. If you are planning to acquire multiple domain names as part of your ongoing business, it is strongly suggested to research and select a domain name registrar that fits your business model.

Also, disclosure and storage of any sensitive or personal information is virtually eliminated, since SLZ and Associates refrains from storing any records on-line, concerning a customer relationship, except in the course of required necessary business. Necessary records established for payments and or verification for any electronic access of accounts are excluded, since some data must always exist on-line to operate on-line.

Automated systems do work great, when they are working. Unfortunately when automated systems do fail, sometimes it can become really messy untangling everything to identify a problem and correct it. That is a fact of on-line life, which can make or break your business and disrupt your business and personal schedule.

Once your domain name is acquired through SLZ and Associates services for you, it is strongly suggested that you shop around for a registrar to handle your domain names. Most large site hosting companies provide an automated system to sign you up into their registrar. That registrar then becomes the registrar for your new domain name and an account is setup at that registrar for you to control use of the domain name.

Some businesses that provide site hosting may not have automated systems for registering new domain names, for new site hosting clients that wish to use their hosting services. This is possible because when registering a new domain name, you will be forced to use a hosting company’s domain registrar and that may not be in your best interest.

SLZ and Associates does not force you to our registrar when acquiring new or even transferred domain names for sites that you wish to have hosted, designed or developed. It is strongly suggested that you do select and use one registrar for all your domain names. It is also suggested that you use a registrar, that is located as close to your home or business, as possible, because if there is any dispute concerning your domain name, you may be required to appear in a local court concerning that dispute.
Basically that means if your domain name registrar is located 8000 miles away, you may be required to appear in a local court 8000 miles away, to defend your rights relevant to your domain name, depending on the circumstances of how the dispute can be settled. For most very small businesses or any size business, this may be a very costly mistake.

If you currently control your domain names through your own registrar and just need a hosting account, SLZ and Associates can provide that for you. If you wish to acquire a hosting account only and manage your own domain names, so you have complete control over them, as the true domain name owner, that is an excellent thing for you to do. Controlling your own domain names allows you to select any hosting provider, by setting the name servers for a domain name. All hosting providers use name servers to direct a domain name to the appropriate hosting provider account existing on a server  accessed through the Internet.
